Inner Freedom School of Healing – Safeguarding Policy
1. Purpose
To protect all participants, especially children (under 18) and vulnerable adults, from harm during their involvement in Inner Freedom School programs, whether delivered online or in person.
2. Scope
This policy applies to:
- All staff, freelancers, and volunteers.
- All participants and their parents/guardians.
- All programs, sessions, forums, and online interactions under Inner Freedom School.
3. Key Principles
- Zero tolerance for abuse – Any form of abuse, neglect, exploitation, or inappropriate conduct will be treated seriously.
- Best interests of the participant – Safeguarding decisions must prioritise the welfare of the child/vulnerable adult.
- Transparency – All safeguarding processes are clear, documented, and communicated to participants and staff.
- Shared responsibility – Everyone in the organisation is responsible for upholding safeguarding standards.
4. Definitions
- Child: Anyone under the age of 18.
- Vulnerable adult: An adult who, due to age, illness, disability, mental health, or life circumstances, is at risk of harm or exploitation.
5. Safeguarding Measures
a) Staff checks
- All staff/freelancers working with under-18s must have a current DBS check (UK requirement).
- Annual safeguarding refresher training is required.
b) Online session safety
- Group sessions will be moderated by trained facilitators.
- All sessions involving under-18s may be recorded for safeguarding purposes.
- No 1-to-1 unsupervised sessions with minors unless parental consent is provided and the session is recorded.
c) Communication rules
- No private messaging between staff and minors outside of approved channels.
- All written communication must be professional and relevant to the program.
d) Reporting concerns
- Any safeguarding concern must be reported immediately to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).
- The DSL will log the concern, investigate, and, if necessary, escalate to local authorities.
